Who are we?

The Pharmaceutical Development Institute is an integral part of The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and draws upon the expertise and experience of the college and university’s faculty and staff. The PDI operates two facilities a 7,000 square foot GMP Manufacturing Suite and a 1,500 square foot GMP Analytical and Stability Testing Laboratory both located in Avedisian Hall on the URI Kingston campus.

You can partner with us to developed customized training programs tailored to your company’s needs or we can train your employees through our scheduled public training courses. All courses are taught by experts with extensive industry experience. We also contribute to The University of Rhode Island’s curriculum providing the workforce’s next generation the opportunity to get industry relevant education and training.

Development

We have the equipment, utilities and expertise to rapidly and cost-effectively develop solid dose pharmaceutical formulations and processes, yielding supplies for animal/toxicology studies and human clinical trials. The Facility is also capable of optimizing these formulations and processes for human clinical trials to ensure they can be scaled and validated for commercial purposes.

Manufacturing

Let us bring your ideas to life

We can assist academic, government and industry partners with the manufacture of solid dose forms for veterinary and human use. We also have the capacity to meet the need for trial-related supplies (drugs, placebos/blinding and packaging) that must be prepared in a GMP-certified facility.

Analytical Testing

Let us make sure it works

Our Analytical and Stability Testing Laboratory can be used to evaluate Work in Process (WIP) at the GMP Facility and is available separately as a laboratory services provider.
